Gudrun Helga (and Siggi) gave us a wonderful and personal tour of the West portion of Iceland. She was patient and accommodating, her anecdotes and stories were engaging for all ages in the bus, and she was thoroughly knowledgeable about all of the areas we were in as well as having a personal connection to them. It was very obvious that Gudrun has a passion for her home country, and that she seemed to enjoy doing her job as much as we were all enjoying our trip! We are very grateful to have been able to be matched with Gudrun and Siggi on this trip, it was overall a fantastic vacation!

For the past week, Helga has given us and three other families a very personal and intimate tour of her country. It has made our first trip to Iceland a fabulous and unforgettable experience! The children loved her and Siggi, our young expedition guide. We will definitely come back to Iceland in the future!

Gudrun Helga served as our guide on a one-week family expedition in Iceland. She was wonderful - fully knowledgeable in all aspects of the expedition and charming and warm in personality throughout. She made the trip meaningful and enjoyable for the six children, ages 7 to 14, as well as for the eight adults in our group. She loves her work and loves Iceland, and her enthusiasm is infectious. She managed all aspects of daily bus or air transportation with ease. I would definitely return to Iceland in the future, especially if I knew Gudrun Helga would be serving as my guide.

There is no question in my mind that my family's experience of Iceland would have been quite different with any other guide. Gudrun Helga's lovely personality, good humor and love of her country were evident from the moment she first met up with us outside the airport on our first morning. She led us on quite an adventure, awakening our appreciation of Iceland's history, people, beauty and natural wonders in an effective and personable way. She handled every adversity -- from lost luggage to tired children -- with ease. Perhaps most importantly, we always felt confident that we would be well prepared and well cared for as we tackled each day's challenges. Heartfelt thanks to both Gudrun Helga and to "Siggi" for a truly extraordinary trip.

I strongly recommend Gudrun Helga's as a guide for travelers to Iceland, based on the amazing recent experience I had with her as a guide for a family expedition of grandparents, parents, and children ages 7 to 14. She is gracious, warm, and friendly, using her personal experiences and deep knowledge of the history, geography and ancient peoples to increase a traveler's understanding of the country she so loves. My husband and I have taken many international tours throughout the world in the last 20 years. Helga rates at the very top of the numerous guides we have used, based on her engaging personality, her sense of humor, her deep skill set, and her insightful comments. If you are fortunate enough to have her as your guide, she will open your hearts, mind. and eyes to the joys of Iceland, her beloved country and create memories that you will cherish. Perhaps most importantly, she has the insights and energy to establish a small community among the guests on a tour which substantially enhances the experience.

Gudrun Helga gave us a unique look at Iceland. Not just the amazing waterfalls, fjords, puffins, hot springs, and glaciers, but the life of Iceland people. In every location she had apt stories to tell us, often about her rich life growing up in Iceland. The children and adults on the trip equally benefited from listening to her. She was patient and flexible. Her warm personality connected her to each traveller. I join Dorothy in highly recommending her as a guide for travelers to Iceland.

My 8-year-old son and I recently came back from a weeklong trip to Iceland. We went with National Geographic and Gudrun Helga was our expedition leader. I could not think of a better person to have to show me around Iceland. Helga was incredibly knowledgable about the places we visited - some off the beaten path and some touristy. Those that were touristy we went at times when there were less crowded. Other times we went on hikes and started at the finish - just to encounter less people- allowing us to experience Iceland in its purer sense. She and her son, Siggi, who was our youth expedition leader, are such warm and personable people I truly felt part of their family. At the end of our trip I literally teared up. I had such a great time that I want to go back to iceland to see the Northern Lights and when I do - I will definitely call Gudrun Helga.
